Elizabeth Bennet Kicks Ass ... Literally
Elizabeth Bennet Kicks Ass ... Literally
Yesterday, I made a visit to Chapters, basically a Canadian bookstore along the lines of Borders or Barnes & Noble. Now this was dangerous as I wasn't going for any particular reason, but to just peruse what they had. Why is this dangerous? Well, if I'm left too long in a bookstore, I find far too many books and end up leaving with a pile to add to the "haven't read yet" pile that I already own. Plus, I usually find one that I start right away and end up with at least 3 books on the go at the same time (it has been as high as 5 and 6).
Anyway, I digress... As I walked through the door, there was a large Jodi Picoult display of all her books, including her latest, Handle with Care. Since this is the book that is being discussed for the next book club meeting, I wandered over. But, it was in hard cover, and not only in hard cover, it was big!
While weighing up the pros and cons of the audiobook (free) vs. the actual book, something caught my attention. From the corner of my eye, I spotted it. The book I was really after, why I was really in Chapters, the book that I was dying to read ... Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
With Jodi Picoult quickly forgotten, I rushed to the adjacent shelf. It was there in all its glory. Small, paperback, perfect for in my bag, I had to have it. All thoughts of perusing (and working) were done. I bought the book and headed to the nearest Starbucks to get started right away.
And am I glad I did. This book is hilarious. I sat in Starbucks, nursing my chai tea misto for over half an hour, chuckling to myself the entire time. I don't care if zombies are not your forte, this book will make you laugh. It isn't all that gory at all, and the combination of the talk of zombies in amongst the original text will make you laugh out loud, I promise.
So, head out to your nearest Chapters / Borders / Barnes & Noble / Waterstones / insert bookstore name here, and get a copy! You won't regret it. It's a miracle I could drag myself away to write this ... although, not working guilt is starting anyway.
Oh, and for the zombies club .... I've found another book ....

Zombies Don't Just Read About Them ...
Zombies Don't Just Read About Them ...
Kill Them!
I have discovered the most hilarious and addictive (of course) game ...
And, yes, I have wasted a whole whack of my morning playing it.
Anyway, in the game, your neighbourhood, and in particular your house, is being attacked by zombies day and night. To protect your home, you have an arsenal of plant weapons to use against them. Initially, you start with pea plants that shot peas at the approaching zombies, but quickly the plants (and the zombies) become "more advanced".
So, protect your house, protect your brains and kill those damn zombies!
